Biogeochemical constraints on floodplain forest productivity, how nutrients are filtered from polluted water, nutritional responses to harvests and other disturbances, and restoration of degraded riparian communities represent some of the ongoing and completed research efforts. Major research topics at present include productivity and biogeochemical responses of forests along ephemeral streams to sedimentation and the impacts of urban development on water quality and carbon sequestration within riparian forests.
