Article I
Name

The name of this organization shall be The Auburn Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society, hereinafter referred to as “The Wildlife Society”.

Article II
Purpose

The principal objectives of The Wildlife Society are: (1) to develop and promote sound stewardship of wildlife resources and of the environments upon which wildlife and humans depend; (2) to undertake an active role in preventing human-induced environmental degradation; (3) to increase awareness and appreciation of wildlife values; and (4) to seek the highest standards in all activities of the wildlife profession.

Article III
Membership

The Wildlife Society shall be composed of individuals enrolled in Auburn with a working interest in wildlife sciences. No university student may be denied membership on the basis of race, sex, religion, national origin, color, age, disability, or veteran status. 1 All regular members are required to pay a $10 annual fee to the Auburn Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society. These members are entitled to participate in all Wildlife Society activities, to vote on any business before the Chapter, and to hold any office of the Chapter. These members are not entitled to any of these privileges unless he or she has paid the annual dues.

Article IV
Officers

Nominees are required to be currently enrolled members of The Wildlife Society. Nominees must be enrolled for the entire upcoming school year. Nominees are nominated by suggestion of any other present member. Another member must support this suggestion. Nominees are elected by majority vote. Officers will serve one calendar year beginning the first day of Auburn University’s fall term.

1. The president shall preside at all meetings of The Wildlife Society, shall chair The Executive Committee, shall appoint all committees, and shall perform all other duties incident to this office.

2. The vice-president shall carry out all administrative and managerial tasks

3. The secretary shall carry out all administrative and managerial tasks.

4. The treasurer shall keep all accounts, deposit all of The Wildlife Society’s funds and make expenditures.

5. The publicity coordinator shall notify members and potential members of meetings and events. The publicity coordinator shall also recruit new members.

6. The education coordinator shall be responsible for scheduling, organizing, and promoting education certification programs.

Article V
Advisors

1. A Faculty Advisor for The Wildlife Society shall be appointed by the Dean of the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences and shall act in an advisory capacity without voting privileges. In the event that there is significant conflict between the appointed advisor and the Student Council, the Council has the right to petition the Dean of the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences to assign a new faculty advisor. The Faculty Advisor has no term length.

2. The executive board of The Wildlife Society will select co-advisors. The selected individuals will be asked to accept the position of co-advisor. The number of co-advisors will be determined as the executive board sees fit. Co-advisors have no term length. The goal of the co-advisors is to have faculty members at each Wildlife Society function and to make students aware of education and employment opportunities.

Article VI
Meetings

Meetings will be held every other Tuesday unless otherwise stated. Committee meetings and/or special meetings will be held as needed and will be called by the president or committee leader. The number required for quorum is fifteen.

Article VII
Relationships

The Wildlife Society will have a relationship with its parent chapter, the Alabama State Chapter of the Wildlife Society.

Article VIII
Parliamentary Authority

Robert’s Rules of Order shall govern all parliamentary procedure.

Article IX
Amendments

The executive board must approve amendments. The SGA Organizations Board must approve any amendments.

Article X
Ratification

The signature of the advisor and the current executive board are required for ratification of the constitution.
